This year Non-Binary Parents Day has been rather overshadowed by other events. But it's important to celebrate this day because it shows the diversity within parenthood.
We've sadly allowed bigots to shout too loudly bullying their way forwards on some political agenda. But love and parenthood shouldn't be politicised.
Parents need to avoid just playing out their childish playground game of mummies and daddies and learn to be their honest, authentic selves. It's not a role to play. A hat to put on. Too many people suffer from some imagined important powerful role that they think parenthood entails. But it doesn't. It's an empathic relationship.
